Crawford had decided to meet Talia outside of the office today. Also instead of having a normal therapy session, he had moved all of his appointments to earlier times so that his last appointment would be with Talia and it could last as long as she wanted, whether it was five minutes or five hours. Tonight, he was all hers. Crawford had chosen to go to the island off the coast because it had many different things to do: the year-round carnival which had a hundred different things to do alone, the little shopping mall where she could pick out anything she wanted and he’d get for her, the movie theater where they could watch endless amounts of movies should she choose to do so, the beach where seagulls still flew overhead in the sunset light, or they could go get something to eat at one of the many restaurants that lined the boardwalk near the beach. This was a day where Talia could stop worrying about everything around her and focus only on herself. It was something she desperately needed but rarely ever got.
He had noticed some changes in Talia for a while. One good change was that she had gotten a boyfriend who was very nice and kind-hearted and treated Talia with every respect she deserved. Though she was better in the sense of trusting people and doing something other than modeling and partying too much, she had gone on a little downward spiral in these last few weeks. The last time he had seen her he had hoped that she would get better, but there was something that just didn’t seem right and nothing he was doing was helping her. it seemed as though more and more was going wrong and her depression was getting much worse than it originally was no matter what he did. None of the drugs he prescribed her were doing anything. The only thing he could think to do was try something new. This was something he had never tried before and he wanted to see how well it would work for her. If it did well enough, he could do this for her more often, maybe once or twice a month.
He waited patiently for her at the front entrance to the carnival because that’s where he thought she might choose to go first. It was always fun to go to a carnival in his opinion and because of the dark cloud that always seemed to loom over her, he figured that was where she would want to go to have a little fun. Whatever she decided he would be fine with. All he wanted was for her to enjoy herself.

all that i know is gone FALLING DEEPER AND DEEPER THE SIRENS ARE SINGING YOUR SONGS It took everything for Talia to get out of bed that morning. She had laid in bed all night just thinking and very few of those thoughts had been good. Halfway through the night she had called Kale crying her eyes out and hung up out of no where. Talia always hated to bother him because he probably thought she was psychotic whenever she got into her fits. She was afraid she was scaring him away. Talia hadn't let him see that side of her for quite awhile, but the skeleton got let out of the closet eventually and he had to deal with a very hysterical Talia. She was pretty good at hiding those emotions away from him because she didn't want to seem like a burden. Talia would just wait until he left to wallow in the dark abyss of her depression.
She had pulled herself out of her bed and looked at her phone to see several missed calls from her boyfriend. Talia sighed and called him back to reassure him that she was just fine, which was a huge lie. Each and every day became more of a struggle. If only she was able to sleep it might help. Having to sit awake for days and days sitting with her thoughts was torture. Talia could sometimes find herself in an almost sleep like trance, which tricked her body into thinking she was sleeping. In high school she would sleep a lot whenever she felt stressed or deflated. Somehow it helped because it was easier to just get away from herself for a bit, but Talia was forced to be with her thoughts every minute of every day and it was tiring.
Talia sluggishly got dressed and pounded down the steps into the kitchen to see one of her dads sitting with a cup of coffee. She stood in disbelief for a few seconds before squealing and skipping over to him to trap him in a long hug. It had been months since she saw either of her dads since they were constantly off somewhere. Talia couldn't complain because without those long trips they wouldn't have a roof over their heads, even if her parents were never even under that very roof. Talia sat with her father for what felt like only minutes, when it was really hours, and they both updated eachother on their lives even though they had spoken on the phone a few days earlier. She pretended to nibble on an apple and she checked the time on her phone and cursed loudly when she realized she had to meet her doctor at the carnival.
It sounded silly to say in her mind, but he felt it would help distract her. It was a very nice gesture of Dr. Young and she was extremely grateful she had such a caring person as a psychologist. Her past doctors were barely any help and acted as if she didn't even exist outside of the office. Young was always checking on her to see if she was okay and it was really flattering. He was much more of a listener than half of her friends. He was such an interesting man and had so much history and you could see it in his eyes. He was a great man and Talia couldn't ask more out of him. She probably annoyed Kale with talking about him.
Feeling a little bit light hearted, she kissed her father goodbye and made her way out of the large house. Talia had quite a bit until she had to meet him, but she had gotten into a habit of being on time every where. If you were late for a photo shoot that only made you look bad and no one would want to book her. Talia had tried runway once and was extremely late for the go-see and they almost didn't book her. She barely did runway because their clothing were meant for stick thin bitches like Kimmi. Talia had curves and a little meat on her, so in the modeling world she was considered almost over weight. She was comfortable with her body and how it worked, so it didn't bother her much anymore. Talia just had to accept she would never fit into a size 0 in jeans like all the other girls around hier.
Talia pulled up to the pier where they took everyone over on a small ferry. She turned off the car and jumped out, locking it behind her. Minutes later she was on the island and her green eyes scanned the area in search of the carnival Dr. Young had told her to look for. Talia's eyes found him before she saw the carnival. She walked over toward him where he was waiting at the entrance."I know I've said this a million and one times, but you should really look into modeling." She smiled up at him, unable to stop the giggle that escaped her lips. He looked like some type of exotic model just standing there, looking all broody and sexy. Talia also liked the fact that he was not only a young looking doctor, but attractive.
She walked with him up to the ticket booth and they purchased a fair amount and were in the craziness of the carnival seconds later. Talia's eyes lit up as she looked at all the happy people around her. This reminded her of Mardi Gra when she was with Remy, that was one of the most fun nights of her life. Talia looked over at Crawford, a puzzled look on her face."I don't know what to do first. There's so much." She hadn't been to a carnival in what felt like years. The last time she had gone had to be when she was a small child and she barely remembered it. All she could recall was the scary faces of clowns and a lot of balloons. Talia continued to walk through the crowds with Crawford, her eyes darting everywhere.

Crawford had been worried about this particular patient for some time now. She had manic depression, which was something very, very wrong and also very hard to treat. Talia had been his patient for quite some time now and she stood out form the others for many different reasons. Once, Crawford had to cancel their appointment for the day due to an emergency with another one of his patients who was threatening to kill themselves, and Talia understood. In fact, she had hurried him off the phone just so he could call his other patient back, which may have seemed like something small, but it meant something to him and because of that, his other patient hadn’t died that day. She was a good girl, she was just depressed and bipolar, an even worse combination. But she was trying her best, which gave him the motivation to do the same. He was glad to see that she was at least trying because a few of his other patients didn’t seem to actually want to get better, they would just go to him because they either had to or they wanted to pretend that they wanted to get better, when really they were perfectly happy in the messed up world they were in.
She had proved her will and her strength many times over and her heart was in the right place. Crawford was also glad to see that she had gotten a companion; Kale was his name, which seemed to be the perfect fit for her. Kale was very nice. When he had finally met the boy, he was rather impressed by him. He had treated Talia with the utmost respect and opened and held doors for both of them. He had manners and said sir to him even though it wasn’t necessary, and Crawford honestly couldn’t pick anyone better for Talia. She could learn a few things from that boy just as both Kale and Crawford could learn a few things from her. And Crawford had already in the short amount of time that they had been together.
Crawford waited until he finally saw her coming down the boardwalk. He smiled and waved to get her attention and when she finally reached him, she smiled and complimented him. Crawford chuckled at her and shook his head. “I’ll leave all of the modeling to you. But thank you,” he said and began walking down the pier towards the attractions. When they reached the ticket booth they stopped. He figured he’d just get the both of them the little bracelet things that let you ride however many times you wanted since it would be easier that way. He bought two and looked over at her when she spoke. “Well, you don’t have to decide right away,” he said and stuck his arm through the hole to get his bracelet put on. When Talia received hers, they began walking down the wooden pier.
“So how was your weekend in New Orleans for Mardi Gras?” he asked, knowing that she had gone with an old friend. She hadn’t spoken a whole lot about Remy compared to Kale or Kimmi, her worst nightmare as she put it, but she had told her about their friendship before and how easy it was for her to be around him and feel at home. If she weren’t already dating Kale, he would have suggested she try to make their relationship more than just a friendship. But Talia had told him that this boy Remy and another girl had started seeing each other the last time he talked to her on the phone a few days ago when he told her about today. She hadn’t seemed phased by it, but he did wonder if she had any sort of feelings about it or if she really didn’t care.
They passed the Ferris wheel and Crawford looked up. “Should we just start here and work our way back?” he asked.
