Where have you gone?
Kentley strolled down the middle of the sidewalk with little on her mind. The wind was blowing, making goosebumps spread across her bare arms and legs. The jumper she wore was made of thin material and the shorts were short, showing off her long legs. Because she was a firetamer, she seldom got cold on days like this. It was soothing having the wind blow across her unnaturally warm skin. Kentley wandered down the street hoping that something along the way would catch her eye. She really didn’t want to go to training today with Damon. She had had about enough of that guy in the past couple of weeks to last her a lifetime and because she had had four consecutive days of firetaming training, she was wiped out. She wanted to take one damn day to rest. She figured Damon wouldn’t notice her absence as long as she didn’t say anything. If he did end up calling her then she’d tell him she started her period or something to make him not want to mess with her.
Kentley was hit with the smell of cookies like a brick wall. Suddenly her stomach grumbled, ready for some chocolate chip cookies she hadn’t even known she wanted. Kentley followed her nose to a little shop called The Cookie Jar and smiled at the boy behind the counter when she walked in, the bell sounding wen she opened the door. The place was filled with comfortable chairs and brightly colored couches. She could smell cupcakes and cakes and coffee and tea and her mouth watered wanting it all. She looked at the assortment of treats in front of her and decided to go with the red velvet cupcake, two chocolate chip cookies, one large, scolding hot coffee with cream and sugar, and a slice of the triple chocolate cake… yes, all for one person. Kentley had an incredible sweet tooth and had the stomach capacity of an NFL linebacker.
When she got all of her goods, she sipped her coffee and found herself a table towards the back of the little sitting area. She set her bag of goods down and started off with the red velvet cupcake. The bell dinged again and instinctively Kentley looked toward the door. A tall blonde boy walked in and Kentley found herself eyeing him up and down, liking what she saw. She smiled a little to herself and looked away to glance about the room at the other customers. There were a lot more people than she realized before, a little area further back into the store hiding half of its customers. Kentley took a big bite out of her cupcake, not noticing the icing on the side of her upper lip.
