Tonight, Cameron was actually nervous. He was not the dude to be nervous very quickly, because he was confident (or shall we say 'arrogant'?) enough to believe in himself and all, but this, this was different. This was not teasing Leila during their quests for the perfect picture, this wasn't like flirting with any other girl who were easy or atleast nice enough to not bite his head off. Not, we were talking about Marley Reynolds here. He still didn't know how he had gotten her to say yes to him, nor did he know why he wanted to go out with her, he just knew that she fascinated him. Her whole demeanour of being bitchy to protect herself from others getting close to her, he was curious. He wanted to know what was to be found underneath that.
So after explaining to his roommate why he was not going to the club with him that night, Cameron finished his dinner, fed his puppy and went to his closet. What to wear, he really didn't know. He had agreed to meet Marley at the town multiplex and then they'd see where to go to. Cam liked that, a little spontaneousity to a date. It made him less nervous and at the same time more nervous. As crazy as that sounded. But Cam, as anxious as he was, was also glad he was going tonight, with the witch who had taken a firm grip on his heart ever since he met her for the first time at the zoo. She had been mean and hostile and he still didn't know what had gotten into him, but Cam had fallen for Marley right there, straight on the spot when she looked at him with those beautiful brown eyes before opening her mouth and sneering at him.
And now he was making his way to the town multiplex, smoking a cigarett to calm his nerves a little. It did not work. If not even nicotine would help him, he was worried about what on earth would. Nothing, he guessed. And as he waited on a bench in front of the Mayor's statue where they had agreed to meet, the hybrid allowed his eyes to wander over the town multiplex, seeing nothing but couples in love heading to the restaurants and cinemas and large groups of friends going towards the arcades. Cam didn't know where they would be heading, but all his thoughts immediately fled out of his mind when he saw her walking towards him. He still couldn't believe she was actually here. And that he had gotten her to go with him. "Hey," Cam said with a smile, standing up to greet her. "You look really pretty." He added rather cheesily, but didn't know what else to say. It was true though, even though for him she always did. "So, where do you wanna go?" The boy asked, offering his arm to Marley. If only she wasn't gonna bite off his head, he would be pleased with however this night would go.

Definite mistake. Marley Reynolds did not go on dates. Not now, not ever. In her 20 years, Marley couldn’t recall a single date she had gone on because there had been none (of course hookups and one night stands didn’t count in her calculations; those were in their totally separate catagories). She wasn’t the approachable type, in all honesty. And even if someone had been stupid enough to ignore that, they never asked her out on dates because Marley was undatable. That much she was sure of. You couldn’t have a relationship with someone without being open and honest with each other, something Marley wasn’t good at doing nor was she comfortable doing. So what was the point of even fooling herself into thinking that a date was a harmless thing?
Yet, when Cameron Way had asked her on a date, the only answer she could give him was yes. There was something about the guy that Marley couldn’t put her finger on that made it almost impossible to say no to him. Of course it was exactly what the witch wanted to say since the kid had no clue what he was getting himself into and because Marley really had no idea how to date. But some little part of her kept telling her to just say yes. Maybe it was the part of her that was impressed that Cam had still stuck around despite seeing her at a bad moment. That part wanted to figure out what made Cameron tick, what possessed him to ask her out despite knowing very well how she could be.
It left Marley standing in front of a mirror, nervously looking at her reflection. She wasn’t one who often put too much thought into the way she looked, figuring people could judge her for a lot worse. For this date though? She was finding herself caring very much about her appearance, wanting to give Cameron a better impression of herself. That was dumb. She was still going to seem awful no matter what she wore, but she still wanted to try. She didn’t even know what she was supposed to wear, seeing as how Cam had only said to meet him somewhere and never mentioned what they were actually doing.
Finally deciding that she had spent far too long deciding on an outfit, Marley locked up her apartment and left, spending a majority of her walk there telling herself to not get her hopes up. Now that wasn’t something she told herself often. Marley was more of a pessimistic, let’s keep this practical kind of gal. There were very few moments where she ever let her head drift into the clouds. And this was going to be no exception. The witch had to keep her expectations almost nonexistent in order to make sure she wouldn’t be disappointed at all.
But that was so hard to do the closer Marley got to Cameron and once he came into view, it was nearly impossible. The first thing he did was call her pretty, something Marley almost rarely heard or even bothered to listen to. She found herself glancing down at her feet, trying to internalize the comment without letting it get to her head. It was easier after Cam asked the next question. Though, what did people do on dates? “What did you have in mind?” Marley asked, not really wanting to be the one responsible for making the wrong decision. words: enough|notes: <333|outfit: here! |

Cameron and Marley were very different, he realized that. Very different, in fact. His roommates had given him a rather weird stare when he had told them he was going on a date with Marley Reynolds. They all knew she wasn't the kindest girl in the world (and that was an euphemism), and wondered what the hell had possessed Cam to go and ask her out. To even want to spend more than a few minutes with her. And then the second question was always the 'what did you do to make her say yes?'. Several creative answers had already passed by, like drugged her, gotten her drunk, cursed her with the help of a witch. But no, he hadn't done any of those things. And a part of him was quite proud that he had gotten this girl to say yes to him.
She hadn't even doubted, it had just been a straight up yes. And that had made his heart swell with joy, as crazy as it sounded. Cam wasn't the one to fall easily, in fact, 90% of the time he didn't fall at all. Not because he was such a commitmentphobe or whatever, but because most girls just didn't seem worthy of his time. It sounded cocky, he knew it did, but it was true. He did not want to spend his precious time chasing after sluts that were so easy to get, and have 10 in one night. He was a man, he liked to hunt. And that was really sexist of him, but he couldn't help himself. The hybrid knew Marley was a challenge and that was exactly what had drawn him to her. That and the first picture he had ever made of her. Cameron firmly believed that pictures taken of people when they were unaware of it, contained their true personality, contained their soul.
And what Cam had found on that picture of Marley, was something so serene and beautiful, he could not let go of that anymore. He truly believed that that girl was underneath there somewhere. Plus, he thought the witch's sarcasm and hostility was kinda funny too, though he wouldn't say that out loud. Hell no, Cameron Way wanted to actually survive this date. "Well, there are several options.." The boy said, gliding his hand in Marley's to gently tug her along. He did not know where he had found the guts to do so, but well, the damage was done. And she had already gotten his heart racing, so there was nothing more he could do. Strolling with her around the multiplex, he said: "We can go to the arcades, but I am not sure if you like videogames. Or we have the option of going to the cinema. They have a thriller and some romcom movie playing tonight, if I remember correctly. And if you're hungry, there's always the diner over there." The hybrid said, pointing at a small, cute little restaurant on the corner of the multiplex. "But I wouldn't be a gentleman if I did not let you choose. Plus, I like everything. So go ahead, miss." The guy said with a gentle smile, stopping to await her choice.

The thought was going to keep repeating itself in her brain. Cam was going to realize it halfway through the date. She’d do something – slip up and show how incompetent she was at dates or snap at him or both – and Cam would suddenly see that he shouldn’t have asked her out. He should have left well enough alone. Should have taken that photograph he took and then beat it out of the zoo without talking to her. Without even thinking of showing her the photograph. She couldn’t help but think that they would all end up happier in the end instead of trying this.
Yet, even as the witch thought that, she couldn’t help but think about how glad she was that he had decided to ask her out. Sure, all that worry was at the back of her head still and she knew she probably wouldn’t be quite so happy about tonight’s events once she did something to mess everything up, but for now, she was kind of excited. This was a first for Marley, after all. Where as girls her age could probably say their first date was in middle school (or high school at the latest), Marley would say she didn’t experience a date until she was 20.
Not just the date itself either, but everything that went along with it. Like choosing something for the two of them to enjoy or hand holding. Marley honestly was surprised when Cam slipped his hand into hers and tugged her in a direction. She guessed that was normal date behavior, but it had caught her off guard anyways. Not in a bad way, though. Marley found herself squeezing his hand back after a moment or two of hesitation, realizing she kind of liked how their hands together felt. Maybe this wasn’t too bad. Maybe she had been blowing the entire thing out of proportion. But there was still the small issue of him wanting her to choose what they were going to do and she could still mess that up.
What was a typical first date? What were you supposed to do? All of the options sounded like equally viable choices to her. So how was she supposed to pick one of them, and what if she made the wrong choice? It’d pretty much ruin the entire date. Marley was wishing that Cameron wasn’t quite a gentleman right now and that he’d make the choice instead. But it wasn’t like she could just tell him he needed to, not after the little speech he gave her. So Marley weighed the options. Movies meant no talking to each other and while she typically preferred things that way, she was feeling a better daring. Marley was already on a date and already holding hands, so why not take the next step out of her comfort zone? So movies were a no. And dinner. Well, as good as that sounded, the witch was a little afraid of the actual dinner part. What food were you supposed to order and how were you supposed to not make a mess? Too many options. So arcade it was. “Arcade,” Marley replied. “Though I can’t say I’ll be too good at it.” She had never really played video games before.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, background-color:#f4f4f4; width:400px; padding:8px; border: 8px solid #9b6464;] that's part of it all PART OF THE BEAUTY OF FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU IS THE FEAR YOU WON'T FALL
Tonight, Cameron Way was falling, and he was falling hard. Unbeknownst to himself so far, he obviously knew there was something there, but he did not know how much there was actually there. It wasn't as if he was afraid of commitments, he wasn't, he just wasn't used to finding girls that actually kept his attention, as cocky as that sounded. But Marley.. Hell, he didn't even care that she was quite a bitchy girl. She was, and she had been a total bitch to him at their first meeting, but he hadn't been able to get her out of his head, maybe because of that behaviour, because he knew that wasn't her. Atleast, not completely. The pictures didn't lie, and to Cam pictures were like reading people. Like an open book. And though he wasn't saying he knew Marley's personality now through and through, he did suspect that there was more to her than meets the eye. And he desperately wanted to find out. Maybe it was just that what drew him to her, hell the boy didn't know, but he knew she was like a magnet. And he was like drawn to her like a moth to a flame. And he really wanted this to go well.
Somehow Marley Reynolds had gotten the cocky Cameron Way nervous. Nervous, because he wanted this to go well, his perfectionist streak kicking in hard. It wasn't as if Cam had never had dates before, he had. Not really much, but he usually flew through them. He had his charm, and most girls were like bazinga when it came to those charms. Though the hybrid wasn't really a dater, he was more the casual hookup type and we'll see where things go, he had wanted to do this with the witch even though he knew that his folks were probably not approving of him dating a witch, because it was a non-werewolf. However, it wasn't as if Cam wasn't different from the rest anyways, so maybe in some way it was just to be expected. It wasn't as if he was like Harper and actually cared. If his parents had wanted to get him into an arranged marriage, he would've said thanks but no thanks. Harps however, she was a different kind of girl.
Deciding to stop pondering on his sister and focus on the present, Cam was kinda surprised when Marley didn't make a stand and pulled her hand away, nearly killing him in the process. It wasn't as if Cam was afraid of her, he wasn't, but he knew she was rather feisty and he had not really found out yet which things ticked her off and which didn't. He suspected a lot of things pissed her off though. But well, YOLO. Caressing with his thumb over the girl's hand, the boy flashed her a warm smile, one he did not send to a girl often. It was when girls got to him, that they received such smile. And like mentioned above, that was not very often. Being the perfectionist he was, he also did that for girls, and there were always flaws. Ofcourse, everyone had flaws. But it were only the special girls that made their benefits outweigh their flaws, their good side make that he forgot or accepted the fact that there was a bad side too. It wasn't just beauty, because he wasn't that shallow, just a little. It was something else in their personality that got him there.
Though with Marley he still hadn't found out what it exactly was. She continued on surprising him, maybe that was it. After saying 'yes' to him in regards to going on a date, allowing him to hold her hand, she chose the arcades over a movie or dinner. Damn, Cam loved girls like that. She said she'd probably not be good at it, but he shrugged it off. "That's why I'm here to help, right?" He said, flashing her a wink, and then started to make his way over to the arcades. He waved curtly at some of his friends who were surrounding another game machine, but when they saw the pretty girl with him, the dudes left him alone. It wasn't always time for mangling. The first thing Cam did, was guide Marley to the bar (seriously, there was a 'bar') and get her a drink, ordering a beer for himself. He felt bad making her chose again, since obviously she didn't like chosing, but then again, he wasn't gonna decide which drink she'd drink. C'mon dude, we're not in the 16th century anymore. Then, he just guided her to a fairly gender-neutral game (i can't think of one, help me). "Okay, so you wanna goor shall I show you how to do it first?" Cameron asked her, leaning gently against the machine, his eyes locking Marley's. His heart did that little giddy jump-skip thing, and he knew this was the girl who was pulling his heartstrings. And he even liked it.

That was one thing Marley was terrified of doing. It wasn’t that Cam was a bad guy or anything. He was far from that. In fact, none of the witch’s fear had to do with the wolf himself. It was all her and her own insecurities. Falling for someone meant opening up, letting the other person see everything you kept hidden. Marley knew that once Cam saw that, he’d want to run away. It happened pretty much every time the girl tried to open up to other people. There was no reason for Cameron to be any different, even if Marley wanted him to be.
That was why the girl had been so in love with one night stands, even though she hadn’t had too many of those in her life. People typically had to get past her bitchiness to make that a possibility, but every so often there was a brave soul. What Marley loved about them, though, was that there was little risk. Either you slept together or you didn’t and that was that. You could only win, in Marley’s opinion, with zero fear of losing. And the best part was that you didn’t have to invest anything into them. Just time. Just that one night.
Relationships, however, were on the other end of the spectrum. You had to put everything you had into them and then more in order to get a functional one. At least, that was how the witch understood it. And even after all of that, sometimes things didn’t work out. In all honesty, it seemed like a majority of relationships didn’t work out. Now why in the world would you want to put yourself through that? Marley would much rather hide behind her wall and be safe than stick her neck out like that. Logically, that made more sense to her.
But being around Cam was starting to make Marley realize why some people took that risk and that realization scared her. She didn’t want to understand that mindset. At all. Because she was afraid if she did, then she’d actually want to date someone. That wasn’t allowed to happen. Nope. That wasn’t in the game plan. Marley had kind of seen herself going along life alone, with the occasional hookup here and there. Other than that, she pretty much believed she was going to be a crazy cat lady, only with dogs since cats never seemed to like her. That was kind of it. Maybe it wasn’t happy, but it was safe and that was what the witch cared about.
Though right now, she was probably getting ahead of herself. One little date didn’t always mean a relationship. No. It was more of a trial and error sort of thing. You went on a couple of dates, saw if you were actually compatible, and went from there. Marley still had plenty of time to do something wrong and mess the date up. Or she guessed Cam could do something too, but at this point, Marley figured he’d have to try to purposely wreck it for her to even be bothered. He was pretty high up in her books, seeing as how he had had the balls to even ask her out.
At least Cam didn’t seem off put by Marley’s confession of a lack of skill at videogames. In fact, he even turned it into a way to flirt and the witch was rather glad she didn’t blush easily. Otherwise, she’d be showing a lot more emotion than she wanted to. Because as uneasy as Marley felt on the inside, she didn’t want any of it to show. No. She much rather display a cool exterior, like normal. No need to let Cameron know just how nervous she was about any of this. Though she couldn’t help but think he’d probably only try to help ease her nerves. He was a sweetheart like that.
Marley ordered a beer like Cam, not really wanting to put too much effort into ordering a drink. One step at a time. After getting her drink, the witch followed Cameron to the game he was heading towards. She really had zero preference when it came to any game in here. They all had a pretty even chance of being too hard for Marley. She had absolutely no skill when it came to games and in an arcade? Forget it. The witch didn’t even know the last time she had been in an arcade, if ever. It had never been at the top of her list. She stared at the game for a moment or two, trying to see if she could figure it out. No dice, though. Marley shrugged and looked up at Cameron. “You should definitely go first,” she told him. “I have absolutely no idea what to do.”

Cameron did not have a lot to hide, not about himself, about his personality, his job and college, nothing. He wasn't the one to keep secrets, and he hated being lied to. Hell, his only secret was one he did not even know yet. That he was not a full werewolf. That he was immortal. Sooner or later he would find out that he did not age, but for now he was only 20 and with 20 year olds it wasn't really noticeable yet. Cam didn't know. He knew something was off about him, but he never knew what it was. And honestly he wasn't quite sure if he wanted to know what it was, or that it was just a silly hallucination. But if he ever found out, things would not be pretty. Cameron hated being lied to, it was the worst thing you could do to him, because he never lied either, he had no reason to. Cam was glad with who he was, with his family (mostly) and what he did. He was open about it, because he was proud and excited about it. He was happy.
And though maybe he wouldn't admit it to himself yet, this particular little feisty witch made him happy too. He enjoyed talking to her, her sass amused him and was in his eyes sexy, she was beautiful and smart and all in all, he was pretty smitten by her. Even if she had been nothing but mean to him and had nearly demolished his camera that day in the zoo, until she saw the picture. The picture, the one that took his breath away. He could not believe that the girl he had seen on that picture was not somewhere inside this girl. She was. And he'd find her. Not that that meant that meanwhile in his single life he had been faithful. Sure, it had toned down a little when he realized he was starting to like Marley, but before that, Cameron had been quite a whore. He had his charms that made girls want him and he'd play difficult games with them in order to make them work harder to get him, and then he'd strike and give them the best night of their lives. He did one-nighters often and was used to waking up with strangers besides him, or waking up alone. He loved how your desires got fulfilled and you did not have to bother with their shit in the morning. It showed that though Cameron would always act respectful to a lady, he still wasn't always true to his own rule.
So now he was walking Marley to the arcades, rather surprised with how things were going anyways. First of all that she had chosen the arcades even though she did not play videogames was something, because most girls would have gone for the other two options. Cameron was completely fine with anything, he just wanted to spend time with the witch and get to know her better. Even if she had dragged him off to some collection of old, boring stones, he would have gone with her without protest. He liked her alright, he did, God have mercy and save his soul, but he liked Marley Reynolds. Even if he wasn't sure himself how it had happened, but he would have to admit that he was falling for her, and that he wanted to spend more time with her. So honestly, he didn't really care, because him liking a girl enough for a date was a really rare thing, and if you got him there, he'd basically do anything for you, He observed the girl as she took a beer too, something that he did not see often with girls like her. She did not really look like a tomboy, the usual type to drink beer, so it was attractive to him. It meant she wasn't all completely girly, which he never suspected she was, and he liked that about girls. Nothing worse than a barbie doll impersonator. When she said he had to go first because she had no clue what to do, Cameron chuckled. "Well, I can teach you, c'mon." The hybrid said, moving Marley in front of the machine and standing behind her, folding his hands over hers on the controls. He knew this was a fairly bold move, one that got a tingle through his entire body and his heart beating so fast that he was nearly afraid she'd feel it, because what if she thought he was some creep breathing in her neck? But not really willing to talk about it, Cam just grinned, looking at her and asking if she was ready, before dropping a coin in the machine and as the game started, he guided her through the beginning, though he had to admit with all this body contact he had with her, this was certainly not gonna break Cam's highscore, and then when he though she could manage, he moved away from behind her again, letting her do it on her own, as he stepped back to his first position of leaning against the machine, observing her and the game. She was so beautiful, the way she looked when she focused on something, determined to get it right. He grinned at her, playfully clapping when she was done. She hadn't done it all that bad, honestly. "See? I knew you could do it."
