She was one of the only people she knew that actually enjoyed going to class. There were a lot of times where Vaeda would study just to get her mind off of things going on in her life. She used her books to create something of a wall between her and the real world. She wished sometimes she could just seclude herself from the world at times, but she would get lonely much too quickly and she’d be right back at square one. So she decided that instead of shutting herself off to the world, she would just go to class with a happy smile on her face and pretend like nothing was wrong. Besides, most of what had gone wrong had been properly fixed in any case, so she was getting worked up over nothing. Derek had gone over and apologized with Elijah about beating him up and going a little too far at the ball, and she and Derek were alright. They couldn’t be better actually. They saw more of each other this past week than they had before in a month combined. She was glad that she was seeing more of Derek lately, but she honestly really did miss Elijah. He was one of her best friends and she hated not seeing him. She often found herself wondering what he was up to and how he was doing since that night at the ball. She had felt so terrible for what had happened because it was half her fault to begin with. But she fully blamed herself. There was no reason to kick a human in the stomach when he was helpless and on the floor and you had super strength. So she had protected him like a rightful friend would. Still, no matter how angry at Derek she was for hurting her friend, she couldn’t stay mad at him, and she couldn’t get mad at him for being protective over her. so they both let it go and now they were okay. She was so glad, too because she wouldn’t know what to do without Derek. She was even a little bit lost without Elijah, but not as bad as she would have been without her boyfriend. He meant so much to her and she depended on him so much. Vaeda walked down the hallway of the second floor where her class had just been dismissed. She had decided to take summer classes because it would help her get through a lot quicker than if she hadn’t. This class she was taking was a more hands-on class and she was learning about the different organs of a cat. Dissecting animals was one of the more horrifying things to do, but she knew she had to do it to. She didn’t complain about much and since the animals were dead already she didn’t see the harm in finding out more about the animals. She had killed enough things in her life during the full moon to not feel bad for these poor things. The one thing about being a werewolf was that she blacked out throughout the night and didn’t really know what happened. She could have killed a deer, a dog, a rabbit, or even a human and she wouldn’t even remember it. So of course she thought the worst and thought that she had killed 18 different things throughout the night. That was when she usually went out the next morning and searched for injured animals to get them into the shelter or the animal hospital. The morning after last full moon she hadn’t actually gone out because the one before was the one where she had found Elijah passed out behind the bike sheds. That had led to a full day and night spent with him, which happened to be the same night they had shared the kiss that led to all the drama between her and Derek. No. She needed to stop thinking about that. She had spent much too much time thinking about those nights, and they had all moved on. She needed to forget about it and do the same. So she walked down the stairs and through the science building to the courtyards. Two boys were playing frisbee together, and a group of students were in a tight-knit circle together. Vaeda smiled at one of them who looked at her and headed towards a shaded tree instead of being in the center of the grounds. She spotted a friendly face, one she had known for a while and waved. “Hey!” she yelled out. Vaeda waved them over. Since she didn't have anything better to do and she could hold off on the studying for some time to talk, she figured it would be anything but rude not to talk to them. |
