born into this world without a voice or say
caught in the spokes of an abandoned brain
It wasn't often that Rin would visit the upper state part of Manuka, purely because most of the snobs hung around in this area, and she did not like snobby rich people. Not one bit. They always thought they were better than everyone else just because they had more money, which was complete bullshit. The best kind of people were usually the poorer ones. They had kind hearts and weren't spoiled brats. Although she was being kind of like a hypocrite; she used to be a spoiled brat. That is, until Jae was born. And, my, had she changed since her death. Everything got better and worse simultaneously. It was incredible as well as depressing.
But what was even more incredible was the outfit she was wearing today. The ghost always had a taste for mixing and matching clothes, and today seemed to be a matching day; seriously. Every part of her body was screaming, "I'm an American!" Well, except for her face, because she looked Korean. In a way, she was, since her parents were born and raised in one of the two Koreas - she didn't know which, but that's besides the point. Today was a stars-and-stripes day, from her phone case of the Captain America trademark, to her fake nails of red-white-and-blue, and to the little heart-shaped ring looped through the hole where she had her bellybutton pierced, the diamonds reflecting the light that bathed her bare stomach as she entered the bar and grill. Being dead, she didn't need food or drink, but she found it extremely easy to be solid today, and she could still eat even if she didn't need to. Taste had always been her favorite sense, tied with sound, of course.
She played with her scarf, which probably wasn't necessary since it was quite warm outside, but it was a way to keep her hands busy. Today she wanted to be human, even if she wasn't alive anymore, and God damn it, she was gonna try her best. It wouldn't be difficult, actually, but you never knew who was a hunter that wanted to get rid of you. That was also very ridiculous, the whole hunter organization crap. They killed any supernatural they could, even if they were on the humans' side. Pretty screwed up. Though Rin couldn't bring herself to hate the hunters. Her own parents had been hunters, although she only learned of that little secret after her death, and she would probably keep it until she moved on to wherever it was she would go. Jae Sun didn't need to know about the supernatural world. All he believed in was ghosts, at least hers, anyways, and that was all he needed to know. She couldn't possibly imagine how her brother would react to the existence of werewolves, vampires, and shifters - oh my! Jae would most likely have a serious melt down. No matter how hilarious that seemed, she wouldn't want that to happen. She loved her brother, at least to some extent.
Within minutes of entrance, the noise overtook the girl, the brightest and biggest smile you ever saw plastered to her face. The sound was beautiful. Loud, a ton of ruckus, men screaming and laughing and booing at the televisions as a football game played. They cursed and yelled and tore out their lungs to get their opinions into the beer-scented air. It was absolutely magnificent! She let out a happy little sigh, dancing and stepping her way between the people and the tables, light on her feet and her body twisting to avoid being trampled or hit by a man shaking his fist at another man. A few times some of the younger men would turn to look at her, call out some rather filthy things or wolf whistle at her, but Rin ignored them with ease, oddly satisfied with the thought that they wouldn't say those things had they known that she was dead. Her rich chocolate gaze flickered to a young woman that was seated at one of the booths, all alone as she sipped at her tall glass of blood red wine. Time to make a friend!
Her stars-and-stripes shoes carried her over quickly without so much as an incident, and she slid into the seat across from the stranger. "I hope you don't mind me sitting here. You looked like you could use someone to talk to," Rin flashed a cheerful smile, her attention hastily flitting to the waitress that sauntered over to get her order. "A cheesburger with extra ketchup, some fries, and a Shirley Temple. Thank you, hun." The ghost turned back to the woman seated before her, giving her a small nod. "I'm Hyo Rin Choi, by the way, but call me Rin. Are you new in town?"
so close your eyes and rest in peace
