January smiled, because she felt that she was finally getting through to Dylan and easing some of his sorrows. Talking really was a good cure for what ailed somebody, if they were willing to open up and talk about it. Sometimes, talking to a stranger was even better, and when she felt a certain connection to somebody, January was always happy to stand in as a stranger with no judgment and an open ear. Her smile widened when he talked about the man she knew he loved, just from the tone of his voice and the look on his face as he spoke. ”I'm sure he still cares about you, too, Dylan. Just as much. When people make... mistakes, I don't believe that it can cause someone to stop loving the other person. There's hurt, sure, but hurt can always heal,” January said, nodding reassuringly. ”You've already proven that today... do you feel any better at all?”
The next thing he told her didn't take her by surprise, because she knew what was out there. Callum was a werewolf, and she was a little surprised that she met another one so soon, but maybe now she'd have a friend to talk to about it, if she couldn't help Callum directly. Dylan might be able to help her understand Callum better, and she found that she was getting a little excited about the possibilities. ”Why would I freak out? I'm not exactly, well... human, either. I'm an angel, actually. And I'm here watching over my charge... he's like you.” January made sure to keep her voice quiet, so nobody would overhear, because some people wouldn't be as understanding, and really would freak out about this kind of information. So many humans were still in the dark. She had been in the dark, too, once upon a time.
”Dominic,” January said, repeating the name of the man he'd been referring to. ”That's a good, strong name. Listen... I think you should just talk to Dominic. Even if he turns you away at first, you should keep trying. Just... tell him how much you care, how much he means to you. He loves you back, I'm sure of it, and he'll listen.” January patted Dylan's hand and smiled again.
”I'm only on earth so often, but I don't see why we couldn't meet again,” January laughed a little. ”Now I'm invested in your relationship, so you'll have to find a way to keep me posted.” Sometimes, new friendships could blossom in unexpected places, and she didn't know if this relationship with Dylan would end up being any sort of lasting friendship, but she was glad that she'd made a difference. That was always something she did her best to accomplish, and never failed to make her feel good about herself.

Dylan simply listened to her, nodding at her words, believing and trusting her already. It was always amazing how fast you could come to trust someone when they comforted you like this. “Yes, I do. Thank you so much. I…” he paused and simply felt like he owed her so much. “I couldn’t have without you,” he finished and smiled weakly through his slower tears, simply wanting to hugs her. Dylan had never been in this situation before nor had he met a friend this way before. Sure, Owen and Dominic had helped him through some of the more dangerous crisis and some emotional, but January just was so open about this. She was a great listener and very good at giving advice and comfort, how could he not appreciate her reaching out to him?
Dylan listened to her and shrugged softly, “I just always worry about that I suppose. Oh, I’m so sorry for keeping you from him,” he said feeling a little bad that he had kept her from doing what she needed to do. She looked into her eyes, wondering if she needed to go. He listened to her words then, knowing he was so strong like she connected with his name. “Alright,” he nodded and simply felt her pat his hand, a small comforting gesture that he appreciated. He simply turned his hand over and grasped her hand gently, just smiling weakly at her.
“Okay, will do,” Dylan smiled as he simply stood up then and asked, “Can I please have a hug?” He laughed softly as it seemed like such a cheesy gesture, but he wanted to give her that. “If you ever need to talk or need help, let me know, okay? I definitely owe you that much,” he said softly as he simply wrapped his arms around her when he could, embracing her for a moment before pulling away. “Thank you again, see you soon, okay?” He said as he looked at her, and within that moment he headed for the door.

Very few feelings were better than that of making a new friend. January had done two things that she really loved in one day: made a new friend and helped someone get over something that was getting them down. ”Oh, Dylan – you're perfectly strong without me. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.” The blonde gave him a warm smile, because it was true. She didn't know much about him, but knew enough to get the sense that he was stronger than he knew. She liked to nurture the inner strength in people and help them realize their true potential, because people, to her, were the world's strongest resources. Dylan's words did make her feel pretty good about herself, though.
Not wanting to let his thanks be in vain, January accepted and returned the comment, remembering her manners. ”All the same, you're very welcome. I'm always glad to help, where I can.” When he suggested that he was keeping her from someone, meaning Callum, January chuckled and shook her head. After all, she wasn't always on duty. ”Today I'm not actually on 'official business.' Sometimes I just like to come back here... I miss it, sometimes, living here on a daily.” Her eyes softened and she thought of her family, who she truly missed so much, every single day. On a selfish level, she'd love nothing more than to be able to reach out to them, but she knew that would go against the rules, and she had a new life now, and had to adhere to the rules of being a guardian angel.
However, it was time for them to part ways, and Dylan stood and asked for a hug, which she was happy to accept. Touch was something she missed and craved, since she spent most of her time without a physical body. The angel wrapped her arms around the young man and smiled into his shoulder. Then, she pulled away and nodded at his offer to 'return the favor.' ”We'll see each other again someday, Dylan. I'll try not to be a stranger.” Right before he was about to leave, she stopped him with her words once more.
”If it's worth fighting for, give it all you've got, okay?” It was a last bit of advice that she hoped would be useful before the young man was out of sight for good. January threw their trash away and looked outside, noticing that sunset would be soon, which meant she had to get home. However, the day had been rather productive, and she couldn't help but be pleased with the results. Dylan and Dominic would work it out, she just knew it.

Dylan listened to her words, wondering if things were so coincidentally perfect. Right now, he felt nothing of what she was describing him as. He felt like one of the weakest people right now, one of the worst of society. Well, maybe he was about the same because he had a feeling many people cheated on the person they were with, but he didn’t want to be known for that. He listened to her and wondered where someone so nice could have come from, but if she was an angel, there was an obvious answer. She was perfect in every way really, she was nice and open, she seemed to like to have fun. In some ways, she reminded him of Aariana, but Aari had been periled by a few things where as the woman before him seemed free of problems. Well not earthly problems, probably more protecting whoever her charge was.
“Well, if you ever need a place to stay, Dominic and I won’t mind. We’ll just have to meet some time again,” he said softly, smiling over at her. He would be open to taking care of her every so often if she needed it. “Just remember to relax, you’re probably so busy protecting and guiding people that you need to take care of yourself. If you ever need a day to relax, just let me know. We’ll do something fun,” he said softly as he looked around. “I will definitely try,” he said in response to her telling him not to be a stranger. He just wondered if their paths would ever cross again. “Alright, I will,” he nodded and just gazed at her for a moment, feeling so much better and then he left, realizing he needed that talk more than he thought he would, especially with how he had been so withdrawn lately.

It was always a comfort for her to know that there were still kind people in the world. She had heard rumors about a 'dark side' alliance building, planning to rule the human race and come out of their place in the shadows. Species that might harm the precious, bewildered humans like her parents and her siblings: vampires, werewolves, fallen angels, demons... hybrids. There was good and evil everywhere, and while January had been part of the oblivious for so long, she still knew of the balance that existed in the world. It was part of why she tried to be the best person that she could possibly be, helping where she could, and letting people know that there were still good, dependable people out there. Dylan seemed like he had needed someone to let him know about the goodness in the world again, and if she had done anything to help or make his day a little brighter, January considered it to be a personal victory.
Dylan seemed to have a kindness in him, too. The offer to give her a place to stay if she ever needed it made her smile from ear-to-ear, because really, he didn't have to do that. But she was grateful, of course. ”So long as I'm not imposing,” the blonde said gently, because if he was going to be working on repairing his relationship, sometimes it would be considered a hindrance to have someone else around.
”But I do appreciate the kindness, and I do hope our paths cross again. Someday.” January nodded when he told her to relax, and even though she only had the one charge, he didn't know that, and it was likely that someday she'd have more. So the sentiment was very nice. Then, he left, and the two of them went their separate ways. She had to be getting back, but there was a lightness in her chest that only came from when she did something really, truly good. Helping people was intrinsic to her nature, and the last thing she thought of before she left earth was that she hoped Dylan would find his happiness. He seemed to really deserve something good.
