MY ROOTS HAVE GROWN but i don't know where they are Three bright clear sunny, and god if you could actually believe it warm days has been blessed upon the occupants of Manuka. A bright shiny tease of what was just on the brink of crashing down on all of them, and judging by the weather reports the tease had no intetions of disappating quick enough for Rory to not grope onto the hope of an early summer. It felt like it'd been an endlessly bleak and cold winter, that'd melted into a slushy gray wishywashy spring that left his entire life feeling damp and smelling mildly of mold. The past two years in Seattle had robbed him of real summers, of real bone deep good hot sunshine. Only the long hours he'd spent in his truck had been his relief tricking his senses into thinking it was warmer than it was by cranking up the heat and making the cab muggy and barely breathable.
The sunshine that'd been graced over the city had surprised him today, and he'd taken it for all it was worth. Running to his truck once school had let out, he'd run the engine till the end of sunset. Just driving around the city, admiring what the natural light showed where the gray clouds had hidden before. It felt like the first time he'd really gotten to see the place since he'd moved back, and god he'd forgotten how much he hated the sound of rain pounding on the roof of his truck till he'd been able to drive without it. Driving with just silence in his cab, or the staticy radio if he chose, it was a freedom that made him bite his lip to stop his smile from breaking his face.
It'd been hours since the sun had finally gone down, and he'd thrown himself out of his truck admitting he needed food and had things to do, before carrying himself up to his room to sit in front of his desk. Hours and yet his hands still ached with the feeling the skin was being pulled too tight, his fingers shaking and tapping and refusing even the idea of stopping motion. His body ached to move, to go, to be in motion, to be behind the wheel of his truck and going. The glimpse of the familiar town even unveiled in the sunlight had put a knot in his stomach, and born an itch under his skin. Everything felt like the air was gone, everything felt too close, too tight against his skin, he wanted to leave, to already be gone from this place he hadn't even fully settled back into yet.
The itch burned, and made his whole self twitchy, and jittery and staring out his window from his desk was just making it worse. Staring at the little bit of starlight he could see when they managed to cut threw the streetlights that only made him more bitter, thinking about the places he could never go, the stars, and worse the places he could. Outside of town outside of city limits where the he could see all the hidden stars that couldn't cut threw polution. He didn't look over at his bed where he had his stargazing blankets folded up and ready to be thrown into his truck. Or around his room which was more towers of still packed boxes than anything lived in. Just leaned back in his chair, not trusting himself to leave this spot and not go straight to running for as far away as he could.
His fingers fumbled around with his phone, without him looking at it, still staring off into space as he lifted it to his ear once he heard ringing. Once it connected he didn't give them a chance to speak before bluttering out, “Are you sure we have something important in classes the rest of the week? And I mean really important that I can't copy off your notes because I'm looking for a reason to not take off for the rest of the week and coming up with nada.” telephones AND PAY PHONE STALLS

baby if i've got you[style=font-family: arial;font-size: 10px; color: #45484B; width: 250px; height: 200px; overflow: auto; text-align:justify;]Lana loved school. Unlike most people, she actually liked it for the education as well as being a reason to see her friends. Though, of course, the set curriculum had it's dull points, she wasn't going to glorify it, but the things she did get taught she loved. She was a little bit of a book worm, but she was also one of those people who handed in her homework on time and allowed other people to copy her notes. She did her essays the day that they were due and barely ever stepped out of line, and even through that, she still only maintained the average grades. Her parents, people who were so money obsessed that they only cared about the A's which Jocelyn and their brother had gotten. They were both successful, and beautiful, and honestly Lana was always in their shadow. Jocelyn was a successful wedding planner, all money and glamour, and Lana knew she could never compete with that. Let's just say that at dinner parties she'd much rather keep her mouth shut. It was easy to say that her friends were the only thing that kept her sane. Mostly Rory and Jasmine though. They were the people she loved the most in her life and would never want to replace them. When she met Jamie that night at the concert that she was dragged to, she had tried to put down her friends, tell her that they weren't being there for her because they were off enjoying the concert while Lana was in a place she didn't quite enjoy. That had lighter a fire in the the young brunette, because she will protect her friends with everything she has. That was the thought that flitted in her mind as she sat on the roof next to her room. Their house was big, her parents money bought a lot of things, and the roof next to her bedroom window was by far the best feature. She loved spending time there, her cat coloured eyes looking out on the horizon. Lana could see the sunset if she hadn't gone to sleep. The orange haze in the morning was beautiful, the moist air was refreshing. And whenever Rory or Jasmine came round, they'd spend hours there, even though the house had many amazing features. The girl flipped the page of the book on her lap, licking her lips, at first she missed the sound of her phone vibrating. She had learned her lesson once, out here, not to leave her volume on. But after a moment, she was brought out of the world she was in while reading the book she was reading. Wuthering Heights was not something she'd recommend to people, even if it was considered as an iconic romance. It was just so ... dreary. The acts of Heathcliff much too dramatic, and she didn't know how anyone could strive for that. Shaking her head, her fingers pressed the answer button on her phone, without even looking at the caller ID she smiled at the voice on the other end. Rory, of course it was him. He didn't like school like she did, it was a wonder how they were friends at all, but she loved the guy to pieces. He was like a brother to her. His words made her laugh though, leaning back against the wall of her house, the soft sunlight over her skin. "Mmm, maybe seeing me and Jasmine?" She offered, a small grin on her face because it was just so Rory. "Come on Rory, you can't skip school all the time and get good grades from other people's notes." She scolded, much like she did all the time because he was being so careless about his future. Sure, Lana her self didn't yet know what she wanted to do, but she was trying her damnest to have as many doors open as she could. "Besides, what are you gonna be doing for a whole week? Wasting time that's what, you silly." She shook her head and smiled fondly, even though he couldn't see her. She liked talking to the boy, even if it was on the phone. He was so carefree, and Lana was often jealous of that. She wanted to be much like Rory because he just did what he wanted consequences be damned. She was too uptight for her own good. Though thinking back to Jamie ... well, she could see where she would get led astray. "What are you doing now? I'm on the roof if you're interested." Just like that, the offer was there for him to take. [/style] thanks bby ♥
